Introduction

The aim of this session is to present the advantages of being part of evaluation panels, both at a professional and institutional level. Acting as an evaluator provides first-hand insight into how proposals are assessed, helps to better understand quality and excellence criteria, and enhances the competitiveness of the proposals submitted by our institution.

The session will feature four researchers from our environment who will share their experience as evaluators, offering a practical and realistic perspective on the process. In addition, a clear and accessible guide on how to register as an evaluator, what it involves and the benefits it offers will be presented.

An opportunity to discover Horizon Europe from the inside, learn from real experiences and take a step forward in your research career.

Objectives of the session

Encourage researchers to participate as evaluators in Horizon Europe calls.
• Highlight the professional and institutional benefits of being part of evaluation panels.
• Provide a practical explanation of how to register as an evaluator, including requirements and opportunities.
• Share real experiences from four researchers who have already served as evaluators, offering a direct and motivating perspective.

Skills to be acquired

Understanding of the internal functioning of Horizon Europe proposal evaluation.
• Practical insight into the evaluator role, including tasks, workload, responsibilities and best practices.
• Ability to identify the strategic advantages of being an evaluator in one’s research career.
